We officially launched Soft Spot in 2019, but the story really began about 18 months before that. It all started with a simple vegan cheese pizza shared with a dear friend in Philadelphia. It was cool, innovative, and—most importantly—delicious.
Then, on a long-haul flight with no WiFi, I found myself engrossed in On Food and Cooking by Harold McGee. There’s something about travel that gives you the time and space to reflect, and for me, that book sparked something. I think it was the combination of those two experiences—the pizza and the book—that made me want to recreate something similar back home in India.
Fast-forward to today, and we’ve spent years experimenting, tasting, failing, and, at long last, landing on something we’re proud to call cheese.
We understand the deep appreciation people have for cheese. And that’s exactly why we’ve created this product—to give people the indulgence, the comfort, and the flavors they crave, while also staying true to their values, whether it's health or environmental concerns.

Between perfecting a parmesan so sharp and crumbly it could transport you to Lombardy and refining our crowd-favorite Truffle Spread that’s never spread too thin, we’ve learnt to work within an integrated system of growers, farmers, and vendors that champion empowerment over exploitation. We care deeply about the relationship between a plate full of food and the terroir that produced it. And our 100% women-run and owned-business produces high-quality, dairy-free cheese that prefers to melt in your mouth, instead of melt the planet.
